April 14, 2012 ZNA judging seminar held at GardanKOI

WHAT: At the North Carolina Koi & Watergarden Society's April 14 meeting, ZNA judges Dr. Art & Nicole Lembke will be joined by NCKWS AKCA candidate judge Jason Guevara, holding a ZNA Teaching seminar at GardanKOI in Garner, NC. The seminar will include talks on selecting each of the gosanke varieties (kohaku, sanke, showa), followed by a ZNA style judging exercise on each variety.

PRIZE: Win an all expenses paid trip to attend Fall Harvest at Purdin Koi Farm in November, 2012 (exact dates TBD). Winner receives air fare, accommodations, etc... to attend Fall harvest on the farm in Glynn, Louisiana!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Purchase any Purdin koi listed on GardanKOI during the months of March & April. Focus is on this year's available tosai and JUMBO tosai, although nisai and older Purdin Koi listed on www.gardankoi.com are also available for purchase and eligible for contest entry. Deadline for contest entry is May 1, 2012.
You then have until October to grow your koi (one growing season) and prepare it for being judged in the (picture) contest. Next, the deadline for submitting an image of your contest entrant (in a blue koi bowl or show tank) must be submitted via email to gardankoi@aol.com is October 15. The contest judges will be Scott Purdin & Bill McGurk of Purdin Koi Farm (i.e. the breeders of all contest entrants). The contest winner will be chosen for being the best show koi of the day, at time of judging, same as a traditional live koi show, not based on future potential (tategoi), most growth, etc.... So make your selections wisely :) You may enter multiple koi in the contest.
You have the option of leaving any purchased koi at GardanKOI to be grown out for the duration of the contest (additional $100 growout fee, at owner's risk), take shipment of your koi at time of purchase (owner pays for shipping), or by scheduled pick up at GardanKOI.
All decisions by contest judges are final. Results of judging will be announced by October 31. NO PHOTOSHOPING OF PICS! You will be on the honor system.
